Leading home health and hospice care provider Amedisys, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMED) has completed the acquisition of Massachusetts home care agency Professional Profiles, Inc., according to a company press release issued late last week. The $4.4 million transaction closed on September 1, 2016.
This deal is expected to help Amedisys solidify its presence in the Massachusetts hospice and home care markets following its acquisition of leading Greater Boston-based personal care company Associated Home Care in March of this year. The company’s CEO and president, Paul Kusserow, explained that the transaction will also take Amedisys a lot closer to achieving its long-term goal of complementing its hospice and home health business in Massachusetts with personal care services.
Founded in 1988, Professional Profiles leverages its near 30-year experience to provide highly professional home care services ranging from personal care and personal shopping to cleanouts and heavy chores. With the declared mission of helping give independence to seniors and any others in need of assistance, the agency has a reputation for quality services and was recognized for its efforts with the title of senior service ‘Provider of the Year’ by one of the largest senior home care providers in the State of Massachusetts.
Professional Profiles is headquartered in Denver, with offices in Brookline, Lowell and Melrose, and it has a total of 384 employees. It cares for more than 1,000 clients each year, with coverage spanning all of eastern Massachusetts.
This is the second acquisition of a home care provider in the state by Amedisys. The company also purchased Associated Home Care for $28 million back in March. With more than 1,500 employees and caring for more than 5,000 seniors a day, Associated Home Care is the leading private home health care agency in the Greater Boston area, offering assistance in all aspects of home care. The acquisition, the first of a private-duty company, allowed Amedisys to expand its activities across the home health continuum and into Massachusetts.
