New West Summit 2019 is shaping up to be quite a celebration. Attendees to the conference, which takes place October 10-11 at the Bespoke Event Center in San Francisco, will likely be cheering as Mexico moves to legalize recreational cannabis. Mexico is close to joining the ranks of Uruguay and Canada – the only two countries that have legalized adult-recreational use of cannabis nationwide. In June 2017, the Mexican legislature approved medical use of marijuana. Now, the country’s Supreme Court has given lawmakers until October 2019 to develop a regulatory plan. The court has ruled five times since 2015 that any ban on recreational marijuana is unconstitutional. Legalization, if it comes to pass, could make Mexico the big smoke of the cannabis world. While Uruguay has 3.5 million inhabitants, Canada around 37 million and California – another cannabis hot spot – about 40 million, Mexico is a nation of 129 million.

She is also the creative consultant at PUSH Magazine, which targets millennials interested in cannabis, and at one time she served as the community outreach liaison for THC Design, one of the premium cannabis growers in California.
Kalsi is medical director at SunFest LLC, which is seeking a vertically integrated, medicinal marijuana license in Florida. He also acts as scientific advisor to WarFighter Hemp LLC, a Colorado-based manufacturer of CBD derived from industrial hemp.
