Tetra Tech, Inc. (TTEK) Awarded $49 Million Contract by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Tetra Tech, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTEK), the consulting and engineering services provider, recently announced that it has been awarded a contract to support the Office for Coastal Management’s (OCM) Digital Coast program. The contract is indefinite and worth $49 million. TTEK will be supporting NOAA in managing the U.S.’s coastal resources, along with its Great Lakes. This contract includes all of the coastal states, as well as U.S. territories in American Samoa and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Tetra Tech has been hired for the contract to tackle the grave coastal problems the nation is facing. The rise of sea levels, coastal resiliency, marine planning, and sustainable land use are just some of the issues that TTEK will be addressing. These projects will allow NOAA to develop sustainable, eco-friendly, and economic solutions and infrastructures that will help to reduce the impact on the environment.

In a recent news release, Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech’s chairman and CEO, had this to say about the new contract:

“We are pleased to combine our leadership position in water with full-service geospatial data acquisition and analytics capabilities to support the Digital Coast Program. Through the application of advanced software and GIS technologies we will support OCM’s mission to effectively manage and protect our coastal resources.”

Tetra Tech will be using the highest technology geospatial services to support the project. Some of the technical GIS support services TTEK will be providing include software application development, data integration, modelling, and data analytics. Some of the data collection methods Tetra Tech will use include satellite imagery, video technology and acoustic technology, as well as airborne and bathymetric measuring systems that help locate objects with the light from a laser.
