Tecogen, Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN) recently announced the award of two additional projects from National Mechanical Services, bringing the value of their total relationship to over $1.5 million. The first project is the installation of two new CM-75 KW units for a 454-unit residential building for families in Yonkers, NY. The second project is a state-of-the-art InVerde e+100 KW unit for a student housing building made up of 14 stories near Central Park in New York City.
Both of these projects are designed to provide heating and cooling systems that use advanced clean energy technology in order to minimize the impact on the environment and maximize efficiency for residents. With Tecogen systems and accessories, the company expects to meet all National Mechanical requirements.
Benjamin Locke, Tecogen’s co-chief executive officer, commented: “National Mechanical has been a solid partner for Tecogen. Their experienced project managers understand heating and cooling systems and the benefit that combined heat and power can bring to a building; both in terms of savings for the customer as well as additional services like electricity and emergency backup power not provided by a traditional boiler solution. We look forward to building on our strong working relationship now that National Mechanical is part of The Metro Group”.
The heating and power systems Tecogen offer work on reliable natural gas, but without all the costs. Tecogen systems save customers a significant amount of money, because wasted heat is recovered. The units produce electricity from the engine fueled by gas, and then recycle the excess heat that is normally wasted by the building’s heating and cooling systems. Aside from the savings, buildings fitted with Tecogen units will effectively cut their carbon footprint in half.
