Sonic Foundry, Inc.’s (SOFO) Mediasite Platform Selected for Staff Training by Medical Center Leeuwarden in the Netherlands

In a recent news release, Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), a global leader in video capture, management and webcasting solutions, announced that its patented Mediasite Video Platform was selected as the official staff training program for Medical Center Leeuwarden (MCL), a specialized teaching hospital located in the Netherlands. Mediasite is currently in use by more than 3,800 customers in over 65 countries around the globe, allowing organizations to deliver instructional videos directly to a dispersed workforce. MCL originally deployed Mediasite in November 2015, and the center’s training staff has leveraged the platform to create 370 training videos, which have already received more than 53,300 views.

“With ever-changing procedures, devices, technology, and regulations that affect the provisioning of healthcare, it is critical that health care professionals keep up with new products and research on a timely basis,” Gary Weis, chief executive officer of Sonic Foundry, stated in the news release. “Sonic Foundry’s Mediasite platform creates video solutions that allow hospitals to easily and cost-effectively keep their staff up to date on the latest advancements so they can provide the best standards of patient care.”

Since its implementation, Mediasite has played a vital role in helping MCL’s training staff deliver up-to-date information to healthcare professionals throughout the hospital’s network. Dian Webbink, a leading e-learning project consultant with MCL, highlighted the option to create content in the native Dutch instead of English as a major benefit of using Sonic Foundry’s platform. She described Mediasite as “very easy to use,” adding that “the videos are just a click away whenever they’re needed.” In addition to providing helpful guides for the center’s newly-implemented electronic health records system, Mediasite is expected to be used for new staff introductions, continuing medical education and on-the-job coaching moving forward.

MCL’s adoption of Mediasite is just the latest milestone in what has been a strong start to 2016 for Sonic Foundry. Just last month, the company partnered with the University of Free State to revolutionize academic video delivery in bandwidth-challenged areas of South Africa. Weeks later, Mediasite was named a streaming and lecture capture champion by Wainhouse Research, an independent market research firm focused on critical issues in the unified communications, e-learning and collaboration markets.

Sonic Foundry will give prospective shareholders additional insight into its growing presence in the digital communications space later this week when it releases its financial results for the fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2016. The company will use its acclaimed Mediasite platform to stream a corporate presentation for analysts and investors at 4:30 pm Eastern time on Thursday, August 11.
