In a recent news release, Highpower International, Inc. (NASDAQ: HPJ) announced the shipment of its portable power station (PPS) products to Fry’s Electronics, an American retailer of software, consumer electronics, household appliances and computer hardware. The products are expected to be available for sale at select stores in the United States as early as September of this year. For Highpower, this shipment marks the culmination of more than two years of development for its PPS product line. According to George Pan, the company’s chief executive officer, Highpower has completed thorough testing and experimentation with its products “under a wide variety of circumstances.”

Highpower’s PPS offers consumers 1,000Wh of electrical capacity with an estimated 1,000 lifetime charging cycles. The system includes integrated compatibility with solar power systems, offering portability and convenience for both outdoor usage and emergency backup purposes. The company highlighted a few possible functions of the PPS in its news release, including the option to provide continuous power to a number of personal electronics such as LED lamps, smartphones, laptop computers and mini refrigerators. In the case of a smartphone, Highpower suggests that its 1,000Wh PPS is capable of providing continuous power for roughly 200 hours on a single charge.
