Future Workforce Conference Set to Offer Insights on Distributed Workforce Issues in COVID Era

  • Taking place over two days, April 27-28, via a virtual platform
  • More than 25 companies represented with wide range of expertise
  • Focused on strategy development and the unique needs of companies with workforces that participates from remote locations
  • Research shows a majority of employees enjoy flexibility in where and when they work, and that a significant number are more productive when outside the office

The COVID-19 worldwide pandemic has accelerated, in ways nothing else could, wide industry adoption of remote working models. Bloomberg recently noted a report by job-search website Indeed that stated U.S. job listings offering to allow new hires to work remotely, as a perk, have more than doubled during the past year.

The report predicts that the trend is an indicator top companies will continue to use remote working technology as a carrot to entice new employees even as the pandemic winds down and the need no longer is as pressing (https://nnw.fm/DQ821).

The 2021 Future Workforce conference, hosted by the Global Strategic Management Institute, will address many of the most pressing issues surrounding a distributed workforce and help attendees make choices on how to strategically impact their organizations’ culture, employee engagement, technology, and ongoing need for education and learning.

The Future Workforce conference will take place April 27 and 28 via a virtual platform appropriate to the subjects at hand. Case studies, keynote addresses and panel sessions will tackle subjects dealing with the strategic implementation of the organization’s vision through a defined workforce, the importance of staying abreast of technology, best practices research for work from home models, management of remote employee performance, training and innovation.

Citing Forbes, the conference organizers have stated that teleworkers are 35 to 40 percent more productive on average than their office counterparts, that more than half of all workers surveyed said they would change jobs if they could obtain one with more flexibility with their time, and that organizations save an average of $11,000 in regard to part-time workers if their model is distributed.

The conference will also feature opportunities to network with other professionals during breaks in the action, using a virtual lounge for mingling. Presenters include representatives of a variety of company disciplines, including Prudential Financial, Honeywell (aerospace, building technologies, performance materials and technologies, and safety and productivity solutions), Zillow real estate, and the American Society for Microbiology. In all, more than 25 companies will be represented on the faculty.

The conference will also make presentations available on-demand after the fact, facilitating attendees’ needs to review what they learned or catch up on something they missed.
