On July 21, 2016, Bovie Medical (NYSEMKT: BVX) announced (http://nnw.fm/WWw3V) the signing of a sales channel partnership agreement, which takes immediate effect, with Hologic (NASDAQ: HOLX). In announcing the agreement, Bovie Medical’s CEO, Robert L. Gershon, affirmed:
“We are proud to partner with a Company of Hologic’s caliber. This agreement is an important milestone in our strategy to scale J-Plasma® through select sales channel partnerships across multiple specialties that represent large addressable market opportunities.”
J-Plasma® will initially be added to Hologic’s world-class portfolio of healthcare solutions in gynecological and gynecological/oncological surgery in three U.S. regions. The agreement, which is for six months, will provide certain members of Hologic’s direct GYN Surgical sales force with access to J-Plasma® and includes an option to enter into a worldwide distribution pact that would involve Hologic’s entire surgical sales force.
Thomas P. O’Neill, Hologic’s Division President, GYN Surgical Solutions, welcomed the agreement, saying:
“J-Plasma’s reputation for unparalleled precision and safety makes it an ideal product for surgical procedures involving delicate surrounding tissue and structures. This agreement aligns with our strategy of providing our customers with cutting-edge technology that makes a real difference in patients’ lives.”
Hologic is a leading global healthcare and diagnostics company with an extensive product line that includes clinical diagnostics and blood screening, imaging, intervention and treatment, clinician diagnostic solutions and pharma services.
This is Bovie Medical’s second such agreement within a month. In June, the company announced a sales channel partnership with Arteriocyte Medical Systems, Inc., to sell J-Plasma® to its network of plastic surgeons.
J-Plasma® is an advanced energy device combining the unique properties of cold helium plasma with RF energy. Helium plasma focuses RF energy for greater control of tissue effect, enabling a high level of precision and virtually eliminating unintended tissue trauma.
Bovie Medical Corporation produces a variety of medical devices and supplies for worldwide distribution, including their patented plasma-based surgical product for cutting and coagulation, J-Plasma®. The company supports its own brands (Bovie®, Aaron®, IDS™ and ICON), as well as private labels.
